Overview

Creative Collaboration for Theatre is an intensive, hands-on camp for high school students interested in all aspects of collaborative performance.

Over one week, participants will experience the full spectrum of theatrical creation鈥攆rom physical warmups and character development to costume design and stagecraft鈥攁ll building toward a cabaret-style performance that showcases the week's work.

Experiences: Applicants choose their top two program options. Aviation (Daytime) may be paired with one Residential experience, as it runs the week after Residential programs.

Daily Structure

Morning

Physical Warmups & Performance Training
Begin each day building strength and stamina through performance-focused physical exercises. Rotate through character development, scene work, movement, and vocal training.

Afternoon

Design, Stagecraft & Rehearsal
Hands-on work with costume and prop design, stagecraft techniques, choreography, and scene rehearsal. Apply morning concepts to the week's performance project.

Evening

Industry Discussions & Panels
Best practices for auditions, performance techniques, and insights into professional theatre. Open to participants from other campus programs.

Get to Know Your Professors

Professor Timothy X. Troy is the Chair of the Theatre Arts department. Regular teaching areas include acting, directing, script analysis, and playwriting. Troy is a proud member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society. As a director for plays, operas, musicals, and audio theatre, Professor Troy is dedicated to helping students and audiences experience the stories that shape our lives.

Mauriah Donegan-Kraker is a midwesterner, a collaborative performance maker, a long-distance walker primarily invested in slow travel: walking around the block and through the city as a means of attending to choreographic unfolding of time cycles in the body + land.

Kathy Privatt has been joyfully making theatre at LU for long enough to know she loves it!  She teaches acting, theatre literature and history, and directs departmental plays and musicals.  She is also a certified Alexander Movement Technique (AT) teacher, and teaches AT workshops and courses.

Jacque Troy worked as a professional stage actor for over a decade. Her work for three different theatre companies earned her a place in the annual 鈥淭op Ten鈥 list compiled by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.   She has also created and delivered workshops and performances at Racine Correctional Institution, in Sierra Leone, West Africa, and Jamaica.
