If Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ is your first choice, apply by Nov. 1 to receive your admission decision by Dec. 1. Early Decision applicants also receive financial aid offers and select housing early, making senior year feel more settled.

Program Overview

Students who want to combine a liberal arts education with engineering may choose a dual degree program in engineering, which typically involves two to three years of study at Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ and two years at an affiliated engineering school.

Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ has formal affiliations with Columbia University (New York, New York), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Troy, New York), and Washington University (St. Louis, Missouri). Upon satisfactory completion of the cooperative program, eligible students will receive the Bachelor of Arts degree from Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ as well as a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from the engineering school they have attended. Because specific prerequisite course requirements vary among the engineering schools and programs, students pursuing the cooperative program in engineering should consult early with the program advisor.


Types of Degrees

A liberal arts education provides excellent preparation for careers in a variety of professions. For this reason, several professional schools have contracted with Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ for cooperative programs that enable students to build a foundation in the liberal arts and then acquire specific professional skills. These programs lead, in most cases, to the awarding of two degrees.

The cooperative programs generally provide for students to study at Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ for three years and then transfer to a professional school for two more years. To qualify for a Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ degree in these programs, students must earn 162 units and fulfill all other degree requirements that cannot be met in the professional school. Students must undertake careful planning with professional advisors and their own faculty advisors to ensure all requirements are completed satisfactorily.

Students who earn the required number of units at Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ and successfully complete the first year of study in professional school may participate in the Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ Commencement with their matriculation class.
